Meeting industry trends, the characteristics of the development of the department are to nurture SMEs towards the desired international talents, and for the training of students in SMEs in international business or management. The department’s policies and strategies are as follows:

 

International Outlook
To enable students with an international perspective, the Department appointed a number of staff studied in the United States, Britain, Germany, Japan and Australia. We offer an international learning platform through student exchange, study abroad, overseas travel, overseas internships, overseas competition and other diversified ways. CTU has sister relationship with about 15 countries around the world, 221 schools/universities. The Department has students from South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mongolia, etc. Also, each semester ,there are students from mainland China, Czech Republic, Russia, and Indonesia. In addition, the Department also arranges for students to Okayama Shoka University as exchange students. These opportunities enable students learning of culture, creating rich campus life and broaden their international perspective. The Department also encourages students to participate in overseas competitions, such as the global competition for innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing planning competition across the Taiwan Strait. To enable students to understand the operation of the market and overseas customs and cultures, the Department cooperates with overseas manufacturers to provide opportunities for students to visit overseas enterprises, cooperates with overseas sister school for international academic exchanges. All these expanded students’ international outlook.

 

Practical Teaching Equipment
In order to improve the quality of teaching, and independent study, the Department set up seven specialized classrooms for procurement practices to international standards.The main procurement principles are to(A) simulate operations to enhance the ability of the practical operation; (B) obtain counsel of professional licenses, in order to enhance the professional knowledge and ability; (C) counsel students to participate in competitions, to enhance students' self-learning ability to integrate .

 

Assistance for Obtaining Certificates
The Department offers professional counseling to students to obtain licenses. The main areas of employment pursuant to the students are international business and management‚ international trade, logistics and transportation services categories, HR management, finance, insurance and financial accounting class marketing planning, etc.

 

Practical Courses
In order to allow students to learn closely aligned with the market, the department implemens industry practice. Many full-time teachers have practical experiences in industries. The Department actively encourages teachers to participate in a regular full-time teachers Camp and undertake public and private industry-university cooperation. In addition, the Department has an average of tw  ocourses  per semester obtaining grants from the Ministry of Education for co-teaching.  In order to create a wide range of practical learning environments, teaching curricula are supplemented by case studies, competition and training, feature production, industry co-teaching, seminars and other practices. Teaching methods are combining theory with market practice, so learning is in line with the market.

 

Educational philosophy of service
In addition to learning the professional courses, the Department teaches students the spirit of service. Students apply classroom learning to enhance the ability of self-reflection, appreciation of differences and diversification, understanding social issues and civic skills. Accordingly, the Department has not only every semester "service-learning curriculum", but encourages teachers to lead students to perform "Industry Cooperation or government subsidy program." So, the students understand local industries to apply the spirit of service learning.

 

Cooperation with local industries
The Univesity is in Changhua City‚ which has many traditional industries, including precision machinery, metal water, towels, hosiery, textiles, flowers, leisure agriculture, glass, rice, grapes and other industries. With the rapid growth of the domestic economy, Taiwan's industrial structure is changing, many traditional industries are  gradually being recognized as a sunset industry. In fact, these traditional industries continue to carry out their transformation and upgrading, and create profits. According to survey results, many traditional industries after the restructuring is facing the biggest dilemmas in international trade, business, international marketing, e-commerce and personnel. Cultivating such professionals is the obligation of the Department. The Department cooperates with traditional industries, such as Shetou hosiery industry, Yunlin towel industry, Erlin wine industry, Erlin rice industry, and orchid industries.  There were joint application and implementation of government plans to solve students' future employment to help industries, and the University.
 
The Department fosters industry trends, an international perspective and creation of learning environments. The Department establishes employment counseling to shorten the gap between learning and practice when students graduates.
